Avast Pro Antivirus

Avast60Avast Pro Antivirus stacks up well against the competition with some good antivirus and spyware protection this year. Despite the good parts, there are some things that aren’t ideal. For one, virus removal could be better. Using Avast, you can run websites and applications in a virtual, secure environment separate from your PC. The software also includes a silent game mode for playing games and watching full-screen movies without interruption.

Typically, Avast has had a good reputation in the antivirus community for respectable antivirus software. Avast’s version brings the same generally good protection, but falls short in a few key areas. The most disappointing was their technical support, falling far below our expectations as well as those of the industry in general. A few false-positives were detected during testing, but real-time detection was otherwise acceptable.

If your computer has been infected before while you were surfing the web then you may want to consider inviting Avast Pro along with you on your internet adventures. This antimalware software is equipped with powerful protection shields that can block your PC and personal information from all types of nasty malware. Avast Pro includes chat protection, safe browsing, file scanning, email protection and a secure sandbox. Using this antimalware solution, you can feel confident opening any file and visiting any website.

Most tests showed Avast to range from average to good during virus and spyware protection testing. In our own tests, Avast was impressively effective over 90% of the time against real-time threats and virus removal. However, there were some setbacks with removing more stubborn viruses.

Avast’s user interface is easy to use and very user-friendly. The overall design is modern looking and clearly labeled, making whatever you need to find easy. There are a handful of accessible tools that are simple enough for anyone to use and understand. Aside from Avast’s poorly labeled technical support links, their user interface is one of the nicer ones we’ve seen this year.

This anti-malware software provides a comprehensive collection of management tools for controlling scans, updates and malware removal. Using this software, you can easily schedule quick, full and low-use scans. You can also monitor fullscreen activities and limit the software to only critical activities when you are watching a movie or playing a game. It has the ability to scan at boot time before the OS starts to detect present viruses that may attempt to activate when you start your computer. If you like to actively participate in the combat against malware, you can submit suspicious files to Avast, vote on websites and contribute to the CommunityIQ.

Avast Pro Antivirus falls towards the end of our rankings this year. It’s a solid, basic antivirus with some good features, but noticeable problems. Even though Avast misidentified a handful of false-positive threats, we’d rather see them catch the wrong stuff then nothing at all. The biggest place where Avast falls flat is its technical support. Not only is it the most expensive we’ve seen this year, but it’s also the most difficult to use. Even if you think you’ll never need technical support, at least having the peace of mind of good support can be worth everything. Unfortunately, Avast doesn’t deliver in this department.
Overall, Avast Pro Antivirus is a decent antivirus software with good extra features. However, there are far better options for a well-rounded security suite.
